This time it's a sequel to the good ol' Castlevania that had made it onto the Sega Genesis, Castlevania: Bloodlines. So far, I haven't beaten the game, but I'm a good ways through. I don't have a big fancy budget like those big name game review websites, so I'll be a little further behind on games (for instance, I wont be getting previews anytime soon. Hopefully one day). Anyways, back onto the game. It isn't a whole lot different than many of the other recent Action-RPG style Castlevania games. You gain levels, you get new equipment to use, you get relics that give you new abilities. There are, however, many new things introduced in this game (I haven't played the other NDS Castlevania yet, so I can't say if they're new to that game, or this one). The new features include 2 characters to play, switching between the two, allowing the computer to play, or there is also Co-op play where you can play with a friend via wireless. Also, they've added a quest system in which you can get special weapons, abilities and also unlock areas in the game. Graphics-wise, the game is beautiful. I'm a huge fan of sprite graphics. I find that so much more can be done with sprites than with polygons. A bunch of enemy sprites are reused (all the way back from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, even), but I find that it just adds to the game. All those monsters that you know and love (to hate) come back just the way you remember them. Also, it's the same Dracula's castle, so why not have the same monsters? Overall, I'd give the game a 7 / 10. If you enjoy any of the three GBA Castlevanias, or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, you'll enjoy this game. I'm enjoying it and finding it worth the money I'd spent. On to a little about myself, I'd finished school at CDI College. Completed with honours (92% overall) with a diploma (Network Administration and Internet Support Specialist). I spent the next three years after that looking for work in thatOntario and Quebec, finding nothing I had to move on. I now, unfortunatly, work at Zellers (for those of you in the USA, think Target). I build, troubleshoot and repair computers in my spare time. I also play Dungeons and Dragons. I'd like to get into something fixing computers for a career, or working with games. I love both. Thanks for reading, King Nerd. http://www.kingnerd.net/trackback.php?id=20070117221722775 Shit happens, indeed. http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061020063825822 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061020063825822 Fri, 20 Oct 2006 06:38:25 -0700 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061020063825822#comments General News Well, looks like I didn't get the job. They gave it to someone else. No escape for me. Oh well. I should still be moving from overnights to days. I'll get to live a little more 'normal'. We still move the 27th. Getting everything packed up ahead of time. Things are getting stressful 'round here, not too bad though. I expected worse. We have hired movers to do all the work, but I'm still getting people 'round for a couple beers afterwards. We'll need the relaxation. More nerd centric: ... Bought a whole bunch more action figures. 80s Masters of the Universe (Skeletor, Rattlor, Mordok, and two others), 11 Marvel figures ($10 for the lot, eBay *censored*ing rules!) and McFarlane's Dragons series 4. Nerd, nerd, dork dork. Just finished reading "Deadpool" & "Agent X", Agent X is more humourous overall, but both are hilarious. The Merc-with-the-mouth, indeed. Gotta start reading "Cable & Deadpool" next. Oh, I also read "Emma Frost". Too bad it was cancelled after issue 18. It's a pretty good series. Probably more directed towards the female audience (Girl Nerds exist, I swear!), similar to the "Mary Jane" series, which was about (duh!) Mary Jane Watson of Spider-man fame. (For those who don't know, Emma Frost was formerly the White Queen and is now married (with children) to Scott Summers (Cyclops) and is co-headmaster of Xavier's School. This series, though, was far earlier than all this. She didn't even have powers at the beginning, just a teenager.) http://www.kingnerd.net/trackback.php?id=20061020063825822 Nerds do as nerds do. http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061012072922485 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061012072922485 Thu, 12 Oct 2006 07:29:00 -0700 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061012072922485#comments General News
Well, at Zellers a huge, HUGE number of toys have gone on sale and on clearance. So, being the nerd that I am, I just had to hit up the action figure section. Picked up Skeletor from the new Masters of the Universe series, Mystique from Marvel Legends and Barbie dressed up as Harley Quinn.

I also just finished reading the first 50 issues (#51 gets released in November) of "Y: The Last Man". It's about an "apocalyptic plague" that kills off everything with the Y chromosome (basically, it kills of the males of every species), except for a lone man named Yorick and his monkey Ampersand. This is an AMAZING story, I can't get enough of it. I'm just upset that the issues are so short and don't come out fast enough. I want to finish the story, damnit!!

The first issue of "Y: The Last Man" can be downloaded in PDF format from the Vertigo website. Click Here for the site.
http://www.kingnerd.net/trackback.php?id=20061012072922485 Give Thanks http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061009100655386 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061009100655386 Mon, 09 Oct 2006 10:06:55 -0700 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061009100655386#comments General News Well, it's Thanksgiving day here in Canada. I get to work tonight, whoopie. Yeah, good ol' Zellers. The second (literally) that the day changes from the holiday, I have to start work. Midnight Monday night/Tuesday morning. Beautiful. I have to book time off tonight for our move on the 27th. We're staying in Brampton, just moving to a bigger, better house. I should be getting a phone call this week from Zellers head office this week. I had an interview there on Thursday that went REALLY well. It's only in the mailroom, but it's better hours, almost twice the money and a less intense job. I can't wait. I'll get to live like a normal person and have a social life again. http://www.kingnerd.net/trackback.php?id=20061009100655386 I Love Debra http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061007083236843 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061007083236843 Sat, 07 Oct 2006 08:32:00 -0700 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20061007083236843#comments General News When it rains it pours and opens doors And floods the floors we thought would always keep us safe and dry And in the midst of sailing ships we sink our lips into the ones we love That have to say goodbye And as I float along this ocean I can feel you like a notion that won't seem to let me go Cause when I look to the sky something tells me you're here with me And you make everything alright And when I feel like I'm lost something tells me you're here with me And I can always find my way when you are here And every word I didn't say that caught up in some busy day And every dance on the kitchen floor we didn't have before And every sunset that we'll miss I'll wrap them all up in a kiss And pick you up in all of this when I sail away And as I float along this ocean I can feel you like a notion that I hope will never leave Whether I am up or down or in or out or just plane overhead Instead it just feels like it is impossible to fly But with you I can spread my wings to see me over everything that life may send me When I am hoping it won't pass me by And when I feel like there is no one that will ever know me there you are to show me Cause when I look to the sky something tells me you're here with me And you make everything alright And when I feel like I'm lost something tells me you're here with me And I can always find my way when you are here "When I Look to the Sky" by Train http://www.kingnerd.net/trackback.php?id=20061007083236843 Bought a House http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20060821235359542 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20060821235359542 Mon, 21 Aug 2006 23:53:59 -0700 http://www.kingnerd.net/article.php?story=20060821235359542#comments General News Well, it finally happened. 21 years after we moved into this house, we've finally sold it and we're moving into a new, bigger house. I haven't gotten to see it yet, but my parents are raving about it. My dad isn't all that happy though, seeing as it cost him a third of a million dollars. :P Oh, well. I'll have a new bedroom that I get to furnish after February. New desk, new dresser, new bed, an aquarium. It'll be great :) And there is more than enough room to fit a Debra in there, so now she'll have to visit.
